Update: Anand Prahlad – Head of India Operations, McAfee India as Chief guest

Its our privilege to inform you guys that, McAfee India has appointed Mr. Anand Prahlad as the MD and Head of India operations from October 1st 2012. Hence, Sridhar has requested Anand to grace the DEF-CON Meet as the guest of honor and Keynote speaker.
About Anand:
Anand Prahlad currently serves as Managing Director and Head of Indian Operations for McAfee’s R&D Center in India.
Anand comes with over 22 years of experience working on Enterprise software solutions and brings an interesting mix of security and storage experience. Anand relocated to India in 2010 after a 22-year stay in the US. He spent 16 years of his career at CommVault Systems (NASDAQ: CVLT), where he was Senior Vice President of Product Development. He was a key member of the executive team that led CommVault through a successful IPO in 2006. At CommVault, Anand headed a worldwide Product team of around 350 employees and helped grow product revenue from zero to close to $300M over 9 years. Anand is a prolific inventor and has authored several patents in the area of computer storage management.
Apart from his computing interests, Anand is also an angel investor and is a member of the Indian Angel Network. He is a voracious reader and an ardent history buff. He currently lives in Bangalore with his wife and daughter.

This inaugural blog post comes as a result of a partnership between the Defcon Chennai Chapter and The Defcon Bangalore Chapter.
What is Defcon?
According to Wikipedia excerpt :- “DEF CON (also written as DEFCON or Defcon) is one of the world’s largest annual computer hacker conventions, held every year in Las Vegas, Nevada. The first DEF CON took place in June 1993. Many of the attendees at DEF CON include computer security professionals, journalists, lawyers, federal government employees, crackers, cyber-criminals, security researchers, and hackers with a general interest in computer code, computer architecture, phone phreaking, hardware modification, and anything else that can be “hacked”.”
What is Defcon Bangalore Chapter?
Defcon community has many interest groups running a local chapter – national and International ones. In the Bangalore region, in India, we run this Defcon Community Group (DCG) under our official ID – DC9180. We organise hacker meets and get togethers, being a platform for all information security evangelists to showcase their knowledge amidst others though our meets.
Our previous meet held in January 2012, in Chennai, at Le Waterina Resort, was an exciting event and a grand success, and we request your support and co-operation to make this event bigger, better and a grand success.
